Shenzhen-Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce (“the Chamber”) formally incepted on 7 December 2015, which is the 3rd Anniversary of Mr. Xi Jinping’s visitation of Qianhai. The Chamber is Qianhai’s first chamber of commerce membered by Hong Kong enterprises. And the Chamber is certainly one of the most important results of Shenzhen and Hong Kong cooperation.
The founding conference of the Chamber was held at 9:00am on 7 December 2015 in Qianhai, the Chief of Shenzhen Social Institution Authority, Mr. Ling Chong, and the executive president of Shenzhen Social InstitutionGeneral Association, Mr. Ge Ming attended the conference. Mr. Ge Ming gave a speech at the conference, he considers the establishment of the Chamber as a breakthrough of the co-operation of Shenzhen and Hong Kong. Afterwards, Mr. Ling Chong read out the approval for the establishment of the Chamber. Members of the Chamber elected: Justice of Peace, Past President of The Law Society of Hong Kong, and the executive partner of China Commercial Lam Lee Lai (Qianhai) Law Firm, Mr. Ambrose Lam, as the Chief President of the Chamber; the Vice President of HSBC Bank (China) Mr. Ding Guoliang, CEO of Kerry Properties Limited, Mr. He Shuqing, President of Synergy Trading and Logistics Limited Company (Shenzhen) Mr. Lin Lifang, and CEO of Hong Kong THTF CO., Limited, Mr. Chen Wenhui as executive President; and Chow Tai Fook Enterprises, China Merchants Shekou Industrial Zone Co., Ltd, KPMG China and The Chinese Gold & Silver Exchange Society are the Chamber’s Vice President Units.
At 9:50am, Ms. Carrie Lam, currently the Chief Secretary for Administration of Hong Kong Government; Mr. Qiu Hong, the vice chairmen of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government; Mr. Ma Ruixin, the Shezhen Municipal Party Secretary; Mr. Xuqin, the Shenzhen Municipal Party Vice Secretary; Mr. Li Jianhong, the president of the China Merchants Group; and Mr. Ambrose Lam, the first chief president of the Chamber all together unveil the nameplate, which marks the formal inception of the Chamber.
The Chamber was a non-profit independent institution co-founded by Hong Kong enterprises that registered in Qianhai, including HSBC Bank (China), Kerry Properties Limited, Synergy Group, Hong Kong THTF CO., Limited, China Merchants Group, Chow Tai Fook Enterprises, The Chinese Gold & Silver Exchange Society, Hong Kong Satellite Television, and China Commercial Lam Lee Lai (Qianhai) Law Firm, and was approved by Shenzhen Municipal Bureau, and is governed by Qianhai Administration Bureau.
The Chamber keeps its aim of “Combining Shenzhen and Hong Kong, serving mainland, and going to the abroad”, will develop itself basing on the Qianhai registered Hong Kong companies, relying on the Chinese and foreign companies. The Chamber will be a platform for its members to communicate and cooperate with each other, and will also be a bridge for the further communication and cooperation between the Qianhai registered companies, government authorities, commercial institution and other institution.
Especially that, as the first social institution consist of Hong Kong companies registered in Qianhai, the Chamber will gather and mobilize the social resources and forces, to bring Hong Kong’s resources into mainland, and bring mainland’s resources into Hong Kong, eventually realize the interflow and sharing of resources between Hong Kong and mainland. Furthermore, the establishment of the Chamber enriches the types of the legal subject in Qianhai, which will facilitate the mutual development for both Guangdong Free Trade Zone as well as the other regions of the mainland. We believe that the Chamber will build a significant communication platform for the economic cooperation between Hong Kong and mainland China.
