In 2014, our firm partnered with a Shenzhen law firm to establish the first joint venture partnership association law firm in Qianhai through CEPA, the "China Commercial Lam Lee Lai (Qianhai) Law Firm", which provides more comprehensive legal services to clients in Mainland. Because of CEPA, it not only offers a new opportunity for business, but also provides a creative
way of problem solving between the two jurisdictions.
The CEPA liberalization measure brings convenience to Hong Kong legal professionals to enter into Mainland market. In the interview, Mr. Lam pointed out the advantages that Hong Kong law firms partnered with Mainland law firms:
1. Share costs and profits with Mainland law firm
2. Cooperate complementarily and maximize the "synergy effect"
3. Help Mainland companies to go global
4. Increase the competitiveness of the joint venture partnership association law firm.
With the geographic coverage of CEPA measure has extended to Shenzhen, Zhuhai and Guangzhou, Mr. Lam expected more law firms will look into the Mainland market and give advice under both jurisdictions.
